Supports permitting, grid connection, insurance and financing for the Kafue and Sesheke solar projects, coordinating with government, utilities, investors, lenders and technical advisers. Alongside our solar projects, our Zambia team is developing student accommodation and short-stay accommodation for professionals and visitors to Zambia. These projects are supported by the 7YRDS Group team and draw on the construction expertise of 7YRDS Bau in Germany.
Public-private partnership (PPP) with the University of Zambia (UNZA)
Safe, affordable and modern homes for around 3,200 students, on the University of Zambia grounds in Lusaka.
Planned together with the university and delivered as build-operate-transfer (BOT) under a PPP concession, the project combines German residential design and construction standards from 7YRDS Bau with local delivery by our Zambia team.

A modern motel with ca. 138 keys for professionals, visitors and university guests.
Developed as part of the student accommodation project and built to the same standards. Standard, double and executive rooms are complemented by a conference centre for up to 200 people and a boardroom for up to 30.
7YRDS Bau, a subsidiary of the 7YRDS Group, plans and builds residential schemes in Germany. Its design and construction standards are the reference for our student accommodation and motel in Zambia.
Clean power is only the start. We build with the communities around our sites.
Every 7YRDS Africa project carries a community programme. Our Zambia team, supported by the 7YRDS Group team, plans health, education and livelihood infrastructure alongside each solar plant, with gender inclusion and skills transfer built in from the first day of construction.
Indicative figures for Kafue (150 MWp) and Sesheke (approx. 100 MWp) at full operation, based on about 1,750 kWh per kWp and year and the Southern African Power Pool grid emission factor of 0.9871 t CO₂/MWh (UNFCCC standardized baseline ASB0040). Final values will be confirmed in the project studies.
A community clinic, support for the local school and an animal dipping tank for local farmers, planned with each host community, traditional leaders and the district authorities.
Women are actively recruited for construction and operation roles, women-led local businesses are prioritised in procurement, and women are represented in every community consultation.
Local hiring first, apprenticeships with Zambian technical colleges and hands-on training in installation, operation and maintenance, sharing the engineering experience of the 7YRDS Group.
Solar power that avoids hundreds of thousands of tonnes of CO₂ each year, an environmental and social impact assessment for every site, and careful management of land, water and biodiversity.
Community facilities are planned and will be agreed with each community, traditional leaders and local authorities as the projects progress.
We are assessing further solar opportunities across Africa and welcome approaches from landowners, developers and public institutions.
